Fun Spanish Fact - Spain's Holiday Traditions
Esta noche es Noche-Buena, Y no es noche de dormir.
"This is the goodnight, therefore it is not meant for sleep."

Spain marks the holidays with feasts and joyous celebrations, from traditional Christmas festivities to local traditions. Hogueras (bonfires) is a winter solstice tradition where people jump over bonfires as a symbolic protection against illness. Nochebuena (Christmas Eve) starts with the lighting of oil lamps as the stars come out. The family feast is often eaten well after midnight and may include pavo trufado de Navida - Christmas turkey stuffed with truffles.

"In the Know" - A Look Back
The past year has been very exciting for Tapeña. We were honored to sponsor PBS's "The Wine Makers", a reality series that followed competitors as they competed for a chance to create and launch their very own wine label. Tapeña wines received high praise from wine critics, including several medals from the San Francisco International Wine Competition and the Critics Challenge Wine Competition. We continue to expand Tapeña's website to include tasty new tapas recipes and will soon add engaging information about Spanish culture, events and traditions. Be sure to stay tuned as 2010 looks to offer even more exciting events and news.
