The Daiquiri

Lime - and - rum of a Cuban sort was
put on our social map by the
Spanish - American War.
A landing was made at Daiquiri near
Santiago ( the home of Bacardi ) , and
the soldiers " refreshed " themselves
as thoug this were Ticonderoga - the
glas news of their allround success
spreading throught the Army and Navy;
since when our alliance with Ron de Cuba
has been continuous and active.

Daiquiri Cocktail
Edition of 1898

Juice of half a lime
1 jigger ( 1 1/2 oz. ) Bacardi rum,
White

1 barspoon powdered sugar

Skale vimfully whit cracked ice till

saker frosts ; straim into cocktail glass.


El Presidente

The Vanguard of Manhattan congnoscenti has
discovered what regulars of El Chico in the
Village have known for many a moon; the
El Presidente cocktail is elixir for jaded gullets.
Here `s how George Stadelman makes it al
El Chico

Over ice in a tall mixing glas, pour:
1 oz. white Cuban rum ( Bacardi )
1/2 oz. orange curacao
1/2 oz. dry vermouth
dash of Grenadine

Skake or stir well, then strain into cocktail
glass. ( When stirred instead of shaken, it
will pour a delighfully clear, deep orange
color .) A twist of orange peel may be added.


Bacardi Cocktail

There used to be a club in Chicago where you
could down one of these free it you asked for
Bac`-ardi instead of Ba - car`-di , but no
matter how you splice it, this rum drink it
a favorite - particularly with the ladies.

1- As serv ed at the Bacardi Distillery,
Santiago

Juice of 1/2 lime
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 oz. Bacardi rum
Shake with very fine ice; strin into
cocktail glass.

2 - The pink kind
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 teaspoon sugar

1 1/2 oz. Bacardi rum
dash of Grenadine

Shake well with fine ice, strain into
cocktail glass.

3. Variations on the theme

Juice of half a lime
1 teasponful of Grenadine
1 part gin
2 parts Bacardi


Rum Cocktails

Batiste

Bacardi
Grand Marnier

Flying Tigre Coctel
1/2 Bacardi Oro
1/2 gin ( or more)
1/2 Granadine ( or less)
Bitters
Sugar
Shale with fine ice. Then pour without
straining into large cocktail glass
( Captain in the U.S. Marines, Amphibious
Group 7, S. W. P. A. , send this one gathered
at Santiago de Cuba in 1942. Here`s to you ,
Captain)

Commodore

1/2 teaspoon sugar
One dash lemon juice
White of one egg
One drink of Bacardi rum
1 Dash of Grenadine
1 dash of rapberry syrup

Peg O my Heart

1/2 lime juice
1/2 Cuban rum (Bacardi)
Color with Grandine


Prince George
1/2 Grand Marnier
1/2 Bacardi
Juice of half lime
Twist of lemon peel


Rum Orange Cocktail
1/2 orange juice
1/2 Italian Vermouth
1/2 Bacardi
1 pinch powdered cinnamon
Ice, shake well , and serve in cocktail
glass.
