Cantinflas el mas Grande by Tommy Calle

En el plano personal, Cantinflas tuvo ocho hermanos, todos hijos de un humilde cartero llamado Pedro Moreno Esquivel y una dama llamada Soledad Guízar Reyes.

Mario Moreno Cantinflas nació un 12 de agosto de 1911 en el barrio de Santa María la Redonda en la Ciudad de México, y creció en el barrio bravo de Tepito. Los que lo conocieron, dicen que salió adelante usando la audacia y trucos callejeros que luego aplicaría en sus cintas.

Después de un intento fallido de entrar a Estados Unidos por la frontera de Tijuana hacia San Diego, Mario se convirtió en boxeador para ganarse la vida. Su personalidad cómica lo llevó a las carpas de los circos y de ahí pasó al teatro y al cine. En una de esas carpas fue que nació el nombre de Cantinflas, según cuenta su heredero.

“En las carpas, que eran los teatros móviles en México, el que anunciaba el show no se presentó a trabajar y le dijeron a mi papá que anunciara lo que se iba a presentar. Pero le dio pánico escénico cuando vio a todas esas personas ahí y se le olvidó lo que tenía que decir, así que empezó a hablar enredado. Alguien del público que escuchaba lo que decía se paró y le grito: ‘No te entiendo nada… Para hablar así, ¿en la cantina cuántas te inflas?’. Porque ‘inflar’ en México es beber o tomar y de ahí, con ese juego de palabras, nació el nombre de ‘Cantinflas’”.

Aunque Mario Moreno siempre estuvo rodeado de mujeres hermosas, siempre fue hombre de una sola mujer, pues como cuenta Mario Arturo, su padre se casó con su madre Valentina Ivanova, originaria de Moscú, Rusia, en octubre de 1934 y estuvo con ella hasta su muerte en 1966.

En 1961, Cantinflas y su esposa habían adoptado a Mario Arturo y tras la muerte de Valentina, Cantinflas se dedicó en cuerpo y alma a su hijo. “De mi madre recuerdo poco, porque yo tenía cinco años. Mi papá hizo el papel de padre y madre. Un día me dijo que prefería quedarse a mi lado en vez de enviarme a un internado, para formarme y entregarme a la vida como un hombre hecho y derecho y con la educación que recibí”, dijo.
